Amber recently joined the team as the Fundraising and Community Engagement Coordinator in May 2024 after she graduated from UMD with a bachelor’s in criminology and sociology. Before this, Amber worked with First Witness in many other roles including Operations Assistant, Prevention Education Volunteer, and an Intern. In 2023, Amber spent a semester studying abroad in Scotland where she was able to take courses to further her knowledge of Scottish Culture and of the criminal justice system.
Outside of working at First Witness CAC, Amber works part-time as an independent contractor with Twin Ports Pet Sitters because working with animals keeps her grounded after a long day of learning about and experiencing the difficult things in this field. She also has her own dog who she cherishes and loves going home to at the end of the day.
Now that she has graduated, Amber plans to continue working in this field and dive deeper into advocacy and forensics. She hopes to learn why child abuse is so prevalent and what can be done societally to create change for the future.
