Child Abuse Prevention Coalition

For kids in pre-K-grade 2 and their caregivers! Families are invited to explore movement, breathing, and mindfulness together with accessible, kid-friendly yoga with Karen Sheldon. Caregivers should plan to participate with their children. No yoga experience or equipment necessary, just wear comfy clothes. You can bring a yoga mat or towel if you'd like but a limited supply of yoga mats will be available.

Grades K-5.* Enjoy summer at the Duluth Public Library by joining us in watching Disney's 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' (rated PG, 143 minutes). Attendees can relax, enjoy the movie, and try a themed craft. *Kids 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. About the movie: "During the World War II bombings of London, four English siblings are sent to a country house where they will be safe. One day Lucy finds a wardrobe that transports her to a magical world called Narnia. After coming back, she soon returns to Narnia with her brothers, Peter and Edmund, and her sister, Susan. There they join the magical lion, Aslan, in the fight against the evil White Witch, Jadis."

For kids in grades K-8! Practice reading with therapy dogs who love to be read to. Each kid will sign up for a 5-10-minute reading slot when they arrive. Borrow a library book or bring your own; one book per kid. Offered in two sessions:
First session will be with Oliver, Winslow, or Lars.
Second session will be with Clyde.

Find out what fossils teach us about dinosaurs with the Science Museum of Minnesota! Children and families will learn how scientists compare the physical features left behind by dinosaurs in fossils to animals we know today. They’ll uncover fossils from the past and assemble a life-size dinosaur skeleton puzzle in this interactive and engaging event! For kids in grades K-3 and their families. This program, sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole by a grant from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF).

For kids in grades K-8. Practice reading aloud with Cruz the dog! Cruz loves to cuddle up and hear kids read him their favorite stories. Each reader will sign up for a 10-minute reading slot when they arrive. Borrow a library book or bring your own.

The City Sounds is a concert series on the Main Library's Plaza. All performances go on, rain or shine, and start at 5:30 p.m. Chairs are set up, but audience members may bring their own seating as well.

Join us for a Family Storytime in Ojibwemowin, or Anishinaabemowin, led by Allie Tibbetts. We will be reading stories, singing songs and sharing rhymes in the Ojibwe language. Geared towards kids Pre-K- grade 3, but everyone is welcome! Allie Tibbetts belongs to the Fond du Lac Band of Ojibwe. Ajijaak odoodeman. Allie resides at Nagaajiwanaang where she is a student and teacher of the Ojibwe language. She is a poet and a children’s book author. Allie spends her time raising her daughter Zaagi, running, and paddleboarding.

Best suited for grades 2-5. Calling all engineers and builders! Drop in to the Blue Room to create whatever your imagination comes up with using LEGO, cardboard bricks and more.

Kids birth-PreK and their caregivers! Join us in a different neighborhood park each week for a storytime at 9:30 a.m., followed by fun youth-focused recreation activities with Duluth Parks & Recreation! Little Library Go will be present at each event, bringing mobile library services including kids’ books to check out, library card registration, and a book to keep for each child. Storytimes introduce young children to books, rhymes, music, and other fun activities that promote early literacy skills! Geared to children 0-5, but any age is welcome to enjoy the story or play with recreation equipment.

All Ages! Presenting science lessons, circus style! This innovative and entertaining educational offering uses the magical world of circus to teach concepts like Forces and Motion, Simple Machines, Matter, Air Power, Chemical Reactions and more. All of the content is researched and tried, supporting actual concepts of science! Trained by Ringling Brothers Circus, Steve Russell and Kobi Shaw’s performing skills in comedy, juggling, magic and balancing bring the dimensions of novelty, surprise, and fun to the mix. So, step right up! The Circus Science Spectacular is your ticket to science fun. *** KALEIDOSCOPE is a performance series in its 46th season, providing shows for kids of all ages! Each show is held on the Main Library Plaza (off of Michigan Street) and run for 45 minutes, rain or shine. The two shows are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with ASL interpretation provided at all afternoon shows. Seating is provided. Please leave chairs and pets at home.
