Kristen Jones

Kristen moved to Duluth to pursue a degree in biology and psychology. In 2021, she graduated with her Bachelor of Applied Science while majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. Kristen has always been passionate about working with children, fostering supportive and safe learning environments for every child she has worked with. Before venturing off to college, Kristen spent three years working as a daycare teaching assistant for children 0-13 years old in her hometown. While obtaining her degree, Kristen was a Cognitive Skills Clinician, where she worked one-on-one with students with learning disabilities. At the same time, Kristen also spent time as an intern at First Witness Child Advocacy Center (CAC) where her knowledge and experience working with children and families only expanded. Kristen’s passion and dedication for serving and advocating for those in marginalized communities grew exponentially during her time as an advocate at a local domestic violence shelter. Kristen was able to provide safety, confidentiality, emotional support, and emergency housing to survivors of domestic violence in need.

Kristen currently works full-time as a Family Advocate at First Witness CAC where she works directly with children and families, providing ongoing support, assistance, and resources. She is also one of First Witness’ National Trainers; she provides trainings to other professionals locally, regionally, and nationally on best-practices for advocacy, mandated reporting, etc.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys reading psychological thriller and mystery books, spending time in nature with friends and family, playing video games, and listening to music and podcasts.
