Join us for a brief storytime full of songs, rhymes, movement, and stories ideal for babies birth-24 months, then stay for some early literacy playtime and socialization. Join us for a special edition all ages LEGO® Club with local musician and LEGO® aficionado, Yuya Mix! Yuya has built a working ukulele out of LEGO® pieces! He will share the process he used to build the ukulele and demonstrate its function by performing his original song, "Piece x Piece!" Yuya's presentation will take place from 4:00-5:00 p.m. with plenty of time to build your inspired LEGO® creations from 5:00-6:00 p.m. *** This activity is made possible in part through an Artist Equity Grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to generous support from the McKnight Foundation.

Dungeons and Dragons is back at the Mt. Royal Branch Library! The group consists of 6-8 players and will meet every third Wednesday of the month. Registration is required. Select 'Book Now' to sign up. For teens in grades 6-12.

Join us for a series of free programs for families with children ages birth to five! Starting this summer, the Every Child Ready Duluth Coalition is bringing early literacy to a different community location each month. Drop in anytime from 4:30-6:00pm to play and learn with your little ones, meet other families, and connect with community resources. Light snacks will be provided. Activities will be geared towards children ages five and younger but the whole family is welcome to participate. This month, let's PLAY! We'll meet at Duluth Children's Museum and enjoy activities in and outside the museum all while building our early learning through play. Series dates and locations:

For kids ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Do animals wear Halloween costumes? Sometimes! Join us to learn all about the world of Creature Coverings! Uncover the world of animal skins, scales, feathers, and fur by taking a close look at animal coverings and how they help animals survive. It's pumpkin season! Don your favorite costume (optional) and join us for putt-putt mini golf filled with pumpkiny obstacles, and seasonal themes. All ages and families welcome to get in some fall fun.

For teens in grades 6-12! Watch anime, discuss manga, create, play games, and hang out with others who love anime and manga. Pizza is served while it lasts.

For kids birth-preK and their care providers! Are you caring for the child of family member, friend, or neighbor (FFN)? Join us for a play date at the library! Drop in any time between 10:15am-11:30am to meet other FFN care providers and play together with the children in your care. Enjoy light snacks, learn more about monthly FFN programs at the library, and leave with free books and other resources. This program is provided in part by the State of Minnesota with the support of the Northland Foundation.

For kids in grades K-3. Furry or scaly, feathered or slimy -- we can see and feel many similarities and differences between animals. Discover how scientists sort animals into groups based on how they look and behave with our friends from the Lake Superior Zoo and three Animal Ambassadors! Get ready to play a special blacklight version of book bingo! Cover that free space and enjoy some book bingo. If you call bingo, you bring home a book. Fun for the whole family.

“It’s all a bunch of Hocus Pocus!” Join us at the Duluth Public Library for a fun time playing Hocus Pocus-themed bingo and watch the 1993 film while you play. Hocus Pocus runs for 95 minutes and is rated PG. For youth in grades K-5. Kids ages 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver.

With a variety of materials and customization options you can design a witchy, vintage, or fantasy-inspired apothecary that’s uniquely yours. Whether you’re new to miniatures or a seasoned crafter, this program offers a fun and creative way to bring a bit of magic to your pocket. All supplies provided! Best suited for kids in grades K-5! Dress up as your favorite pirate or princess (or other costume) and join us in the Blue Room for some fun! We'll have games, crafts, and music. A photo booth will be ready for you to take pictures too.

For grades 6-12. Celebrate and roast a horribly awesome movie! This month's movie is "Five Nights at Freddy's" (2023, rated PG13, 110 minutes). Movie-style snacks will be served.

Drop in for a ghoulishly good dance party, crafts, and play time. Families can also go trick-or-treating around the library any time during or after the program. Geared toward ages birth-5 but all children and their caregivers are welcome!
