Let's create and learn together! Kids birth to PreK and their caregivers. Start the morning with stories, rhymes, songs, and movement. Afterwards, continue learning through art activities that build fine motor skills, coordination, creativity and more! Storytime | Gold Room | 10:15-10:45 a.m
Art | Green Room | 10:45-11:30 a.m.

Babies birth - 24 months and their caregivers. Join us for a brief storytime, then stay for some early literacy playtime and socialization.

Find out what fossils teach us about dinosaurs with the Science Museum of Minnesota! Children and families will learn how scientists compare the physical features left behind by dinosaurs in fossils to animals we know today. They’ll uncover fossils from the past and assemble a life-size dinosaur skeleton puzzle in this interactive and engaging event! For kids in grades K-3 and their families. This program, sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole by a grant from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF).

For all ages! Please join us for this presentation by Donna "Grizz" Andrews, which includes photos, videos and lots of wild stories about Minnesota bears. Learn helpful techniques for coexisting with bears, including tips to understand bear language, behavior, deterrents to keep everyone safe, and how to be a good neighbor to the bears who live in our communities. Come prepared to see bears in a new light. Donna "Grizz" Andrews has been a bear advocate for many years, acting as a guide, advisor and presenter for various educational organizations and private groups across the United States and Canada.

For kids ages birth-PreK and their caregivers! Join us in a different neighborhood park each week for a storytime at 9:30 a.m., followed by fun youth-focused recreation activities with Duluth Parks & Recreation! Little Library Go will be present at each event, bringing mobile library services including kids’ books to check out, library card registration, and a book to keep for each child. Storytimes introduce young children to books, rhymes, music, and other fun activities that promote early literacy skills! Geared to children 0-5, but any age is welcome to enjoy the story or play with recreation equipment.

Practice reading aloud with Cruz the dog! Cruz loves to cuddle up and hear kids read him their favorite stories. Each child will sign up for a 10-minute reading slot when they arrive. Borrow a library book or bring your own. For grades K-8.

For kids in grades 2-5. Our STEM for Kids series is digging into the world of Cryptozoology. Have you seen Bigfoot? Do you think there is scientific evidence of Nessie? Come join us for this fun hands-on STEM program in which we learn about the folklore of various cryptid creatures and create dioramas of their environments. Registration is required. Will Sings Songs performs original songs for young people of all ages! Driven by audience participation, Will's songs are guaranteed to get kids moving, grooving, laughing, and singing. A naturalist by trade, many of Will's tunes are environmentally themed, but many are just plain fun! This high energy performance focuses on positivity, joy, and learning through curiosity. For kids in grades Pre-K - Grade 5. Kids 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. For adults and youth in Grades 6-12. Register for this American Sign Language Class Sampler with local teacher, David Moberg. At the first class, you will be learning the alphabet, numbers, simple words, and some library-related signs. A print-off of signs will be sent home to study. The second class will be a review and chance to practice and perfect! Registration required. Registration will be for both August 21st and August 28th. If you find you like the sampler, there will be information available for future community classes held in Duluth.

Enjoy summer at the Duluth Public Library by joining us in watching 'the Mitchells vs the Machines' (2021, rated PG, 114 minutes) with a themed craft. For kids in grades K-5. Kids age 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver.
