Family-Centered Events

For kids ages birth to pre-K and their caregivers. Join us to kick-off Summer Reading with the boys of summer, The Duluth Huskies! Come prepared to listen to some great stories, get an autograph or two, and maybe even sing a round of 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame!' You can even root, root, root for your home team as they try to dunk one of our youth librarians in a dunk tank! Youth tickets for the Books and Baseball game on Sunday, July 20th will be available for kids 5 - 18, while supplies last.
Storytimes are geared toward younger kids, but everyone is welcome to attend this special event. Library Plaza

Are you a mom? Would you like to be active and be in community with other moms? Join Katie Dague in a free edition of a Fit 4 Mom workout class just for mamas and their little ones! Stroller Strides® is a 60-minute total-body workout with strength, cardio, and core training, all while engaging the little ones in a stroller! You’ll leave class feeling strong, empowered, connected, and energized—no matter your stage of motherhood.

Join us for a series of free programs for families with children ages birth to five! Starting this summer, the Every Child Ready Duluth Coalition is bringing early literacy to a different community location each month. Drop in anytime from 4:30-6:00pm to play and learn with your little ones, meet other families, and connect with community resources. Light snacks will be provided. Activities will be geared towards children ages five and younger but the whole family is welcome to participate. This month, let's read! We'll meet at Piedmont Elementary, enjoy playing in the gym, cafeteria, and playground all while boosting early reading skills. Series dates and locations:

Join us in a different neighborhood park each week for a storytime at 9:30 a.m., followed by fun youth-focused recreation activities with Duluth Parks & Recreation! Little Library Go will be present at each event, bringing mobile library services including kids’ books to check out, library card registration, and a book to keep for each child. Storytimes introduce young children to books, rhymes, music, and other fun activities that promote early literacy skills! Geared to children 0-5, but any age is welcome to enjoy the story or play with recreation equipment. Lester Park

This program is suitable for kids in grades K-12. Help us beautify our library green space with some garden art! Participants will use paint and yarn to embellish natural materials like driftwood and rocks, and create garden signs, a collaborative sculpture, and mobiles to hang from the trees. Bring your imagination and a willingness to get your hands dirty! Caregivers are encouraged to participate. This program will take place outside by the garden, if weather permits, with a back-up location in the Green room. Green Room
