OJIBWE STEM: Wild Rice Preserving with Joseph Gokee5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
For kids in grades 4-12. Join us to learn traditional Ojibwe wild rice preparation techniques with Joseph Gokee and Megan Lhotka. Participants will walk through the steps of how to finish and prepare wild rice by cooking and eating it in a traditional way. Megan Lhotka (Miinanikwe) is a descendant of the White Earth Band of Pembina Ojibwe in NorthWest MN. As the Cultural Liaison for the Center of American Indian and Minority Health. In her role, through collaboration with the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Medica Foundation, Miinanikwe supports Indigenous youth of the White Earth Reservation gain interests in health and science careers. Miinaikwe is a medicine keeper who shares her knowledge and continues her learning through language and community. Joseph Gokee is a tribal member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe.
