Worms, Greens, Soil, and Seeds11:00 am - 12:00 pmWould you like to increase the resilience of your household and get your kids involved in the process? This program will focus on vermicomposting and growing microgreens, both of which do not require outdoor space, can be done all year long, and are great activities for kids to help with! Local author of “LaVerme’s Handbook of Indoor Worm Composting,” Ellen Sandbeck, will demonstrate how to set up a worm composting bin and harvest its valuable by-products to use to fertilize your plants. Participants will also learn a kid-friendly method for keeping your household supplied in nutrient-dense microgreens all year long! Incorporating these 2 practices into your household diverts waste from the landfill, increases access to healthy foods, saves money, and teaches environmental literacy!Duluth Public Library – Main Branch
