Babies birth - 24 months and their caregivers. Join us for a brief storytime, then stay for some early literacy playtime and socialization.

Find out what fossils teach us about dinosaurs with the Science Museum of Minnesota! Children and families will learn how scientists compare the physical features left behind by dinosaurs in fossils to animals we know today. They’ll uncover fossils from the past and assemble a life-size dinosaur skeleton puzzle in this interactive and engaging event! For kids in grades K-3 and their families. This program, sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole by a grant from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF).

For all ages! Please join us for this presentation by Donna "Grizz" Andrews, which includes photos, videos and lots of wild stories about Minnesota bears. Learn helpful techniques for coexisting with bears, including tips to understand bear language, behavior, deterrents to keep everyone safe, and how to be a good neighbor to the bears who live in our communities. Come prepared to see bears in a new light. Donna "Grizz" Andrews has been a bear advocate for many years, acting as a guide, advisor and presenter for various educational organizations and private groups across the United States and Canada.

Enjoy summer at the Duluth Public Library by joining us in watching 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' (2009, rated PG, 89 minutes) with a themed craft. For kids in grades K-5. Kids age 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. About the movie: "When hard times hit Swallow Falls, its townspeople can only afford to eat sardines. Flint Lockwood, a failed inventor, thinks he has the answer to the town's crisis. He builds a machine that converts water into food, and becomes a local hero when tasty treats fall from the sky like rain. But when the machine spins out of control and threatens to bury the whole world under giant mounds of food, Flint finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew. This is an adaptation of the children's book by Ron and Judi Barrett."

Join the Mt. Royal staff for a variety of crafts. No experience necessary. Supplies are provided. Best suited for kids in pre-k through grade 5.

For kids ages birth-PreK and their caregivers! Join us in a different neighborhood park each week for a storytime at 9:30 a.m., followed by fun youth-focused recreation activities with Duluth Parks & Recreation! Little Library Go will be present at each event, bringing mobile library services including kids’ books to check out, library card registration, and a book to keep for each child. Storytimes introduce young children to books, rhymes, music, and other fun activities that promote early literacy skills! Geared to children 0-5, but any age is welcome to enjoy the story or play with recreation equipment.

Level up your book shelf and give your favorite book a sparkling makeover! Join us for a free, 90-minute Book Bedazzling Program, where you'll decorate your book with glittering gems. Bring your own book and let your imagination shine. Registration is required, and all decorative materials will be provided—just bring the book you want to bedazzle! For adults and teens, ages 13 and up. Space is limited so sign up today!

Practice reading aloud with Cruz the dog! Cruz loves to cuddle up and hear kids read him their favorite stories. Each child will sign up for a 10-minute reading slot when they arrive. Borrow a library book or bring your own. For grades K-8.

For kids in grades 2-5. Our STEM for Kids series is digging into the world of Cryptozoology. Have you seen Bigfoot? Do you think there is scientific evidence of Nessie? Come join us for this fun hands-on STEM program in which we learn about the folklore of various cryptid creatures and create dioramas of their environments. Registration is required. Will Sings Songs performs original songs for young people of all ages! Driven by audience participation, Will's songs are guaranteed to get kids moving, grooving, laughing, and singing. A naturalist by trade, many of Will's tunes are environmentally themed, but many are just plain fun! This high energy performance focuses on positivity, joy, and learning through curiosity. For kids in grades Pre-K - Grade 5. Kids 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. In a twist on a classic game, bingo numbers get replaced with book covers and other themes. You don't even have to be able to read to play. Win cool books just by playing! Fun for the whole family. Storytime ho! Climb aboard the William A. Irvin historical ship for a special storytime! We'll meet on the top deck for stories, songs, and rhymes at 9:30am, followed by time for families to explore the ship. For kids pre-K - grade 3 with their caregivers. Due to its historical nature as a retired freighter, the Irvin is not ADA accessible and includes multiple staircases to access certain locations. No strollers or wagons please. The top deck has minimal barriers, children must be monitored at all times. When you register, please indicate how many people will be in your group. Ship deck capacity is 130 people. Parking will be FREE for this event in the DECC parking lot across from the ship. Please let parking booth attendant know you are here for Storytime on the Irvin and they will honor complimentary parking.

Dungeons and Dragons is back at the Mt. Royal Branch Library! The group consists of 6-8 players and will meet every third Wednesday of the month. Registration is required. Select 'Book Now' to sign up. For teens in grades 6-12.

Join us for a series of free programs for families with children ages birth to five! Starting this summer, the Every Child Ready Duluth Coalition is bringing early literacy to a different community location each month. Drop in anytime from 4:30-6:00pm to play and learn with your little ones, meet other families, and connect with community resources. Light snacks will be provided. Activities will be geared towards children ages five and younger but the whole family is welcome to participate. This month, let's write! We'll meet at the Playground for Every BODY in Proctor and enjoy activities around the playground all while boosting early writing skills. Hermantown/Proctor Early Childhood programs, PBS North, and AEOA with be hosting the activities with the library. Series dates and locations:
