Marisa is getting ready to head into her senior year at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in criminology with minors in deaf studies as well as cognitive science with hopes to graduate in May 2024.
Through her studies, Marisa has been able to focus on the topics of domestic violence and victimology, which have continually piqued her interest. During her time at UMD, Marisa is involved with Alpha Sigma Tau, a national sorority that volunteers with the Safe Haven Domestic Violence Shelter & Resource Center in Duluth. Through her position in her organization, she has been able to be an active volunteer with the shelter and resource center for the past two years. Currently, Marisa works at a local daycare in the Duluth area, which sparked her passion for working with, helping, and being a resource for children of all ages.
After graduation, Marisa hopes to pursue a career in victim services and receive a masters degree in Criminology with a focus in victimology. She is incredibly excited for the opportunity to build her knowledge and experience in the fields of child advocacy and forensic interviewing with the help of First Witness this summer.
